Easy as Pi!

image

This is my first Pi shawl from the pattern by the doyenne of knitting Elizabeth Zimmermann.

It took me six weeks and two frustrated froggings*but I finished it, blocked it and intend to gloat over it for several days!

The wool is Amitola by Louisa Harding, colour Salsa, 80% wool, 20% silk, DK weight with an amazing 250 metres to a 50g ball and it knit like a dream!

Plans are afoot for another one….

*frogging is the type of contact sport that CAN be undertaken in public without scaring the horses as it is simply ripping back the offending piece of knitting to a point where it went wrong.

  1. That’s really beautiful! I’m so impressed at the short time it took you to knit. I have been knitting a cardigan in Amitola for ages. I agree that this is truly lovely yarn. Did you use many balls for your shawl?

    • Thank you! I used about 6 balls of the yarn in total (1250m for the main body and 250m for the edging). It is such an easy pattern as once you have done the necessary counting (the 48 row block) you can then just drift away in front of the TV until it is as big as you want. Good luck with your cardigan.
